We are very happy to have Design Species with us in Milan this year. Theirs is also a project that needs a little explanation (see KithKin below). There will be performances during the week here are the details, not to be missed.

Design Species

‘On the Origin of design species by means of fashionable selection’

A collective presentation from the works of the Eindhoven based designers Yoad David Luxembourg and Daniela Pais. Design Species presents an experience of products developed to create alternative means of consumption.

As an exposition, Design species questions the origin of fashion and the subjective (fashionable) selection that exists in our culture, as suggested by its theme, which was adujsted from Charles Darwin’s ‘On the Origin of species by means of natural selection’

Earlier in 2007 David and Daniela discovered that their projects are complementing one another in their approach to research and their subjects. They were both inspired by Darwinism in one way or another and they both dealt with the “means of fashionable selection”. With their work they want to show not only the tip of the iceberg (i.e. the fashion shows/media) but also what is under it and how it was formed – showing the cycle of fashion design and its related thinking in a micro environment.
