Dish of the day

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

dsc_0001for-web
Welcome to the very first Designersblock Dish of the day, an occasional column celebrating the locality and giving thanks for what’s on our plates. When the mornings and nights start drawing in there’s nothing like the friendly shop down the road as a source of variety and nourishment, we can recommend The Express Convenience Store on Kingsland Road, this dish doesn’t taste the same if you make it with supermarket ingredients, this is a dish to lift the spirits on any winters afternoon. A contemporary take on the classic Spanish Fabbada.

Party of 3rd part – Saturday night tear up

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Always looking for heart of Saturday night. The third party we threw during The London Design Festival. For exhibitors and very good friends, so good we didn’t get it together to take any snaps, however this is the company, portraits of pretty much everybody in and on the show by Toby Summerskill.

Thanks very much to everybody who took part, worked on and helped out with the show. Special thanks to Christina Billiouri, Monica Hernandez and Dian Simpson who we had the pleasure of working with in the run up and during this show. Their enthusiasm, dedication and professionalism kept us up to speed and made us smile.

Cristina Guitian

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Cristina Guitian 1st showed her work with us at the Designersblock:Illustrate show back in 2007 when she created a rather splendid Teddy Bear factory.

Needing a space to create a live piece for the Don’t Panic website Cristina got in touch and asked of we had any ideas of a space she might use.

We were more than happy to give her use of the Designersblock bathroom.

Stools front of house

The Designersblock stools have been through many events with us. They started life at the Designersblock:Illustrate show where they were painted white and we handed out pens to the audience. They’ve subsequently been to Milan a couple of times, painted aqua for the London Festival of Architecture, some of the very lucky ones have even been to Japan.
