Sarah Turner

Sarah Turner is an award winning eco artist & designer making beautiful products from waste materials. She currently specialises in making decorative lighting from waste plastic drinks bottles. The bottles are collected from local cafes and households and then they are cleaned and sandblasted. With some clever cutting they are sculpted into decorative, intricate forms making them totally unrecognisable from their original state.

Tortie Hoare Butterfly Chair

Tortie Hoare is New Designer of the Year. Through her research she came across the french medieval process of boiling leather. This enables her to create structural 3d shapes that are an environmentally conscious alternative to using plastics or resin. The pieces are comfortable to use and beautifuly unique, right down to marks where the cow has scratched against a bush. All the pieces in the collection are handmade and designed by Tortie.

The New designers judges commented ‘innovation, personal passion and an incredible sensitivity to materials which has reinvented a lost process from medieval times combine to produce an outstanding collection of contemporary furniture.’
