Peter Böckel - Read me
Peter Böckel is a young industrial designer from Germany. At Designersblock 2011 in Milano, he will show a collection of several furniture pieces under the title MissingLink. The collection consists of four objects which are based upon the idea of the convergence of form, function and meaning. Known patterns are abandoned, mixed and merged with each other. Daan Mulder - My Form Follows Function Sofa
The Dutch designer Daan Mulder will show his elegantly sculptured designs at Salone del Mobile 2011.
Lancia TrendVisions magazine describes his work as follows: “He has managed to merge aesthetics with functionality in futuristic steel curves, which become structure and ornament. Fluid and fine, with an almost liquid texture, the armchair waves before your eyes and accommodates you in full comfort. The metal curves softly to follow the anatomical design as you sit. This is the “My Form Follows Function Sofa”, Mulder’s latest creation presented at the “Young Talent 2010” in Nieuw Roden (Holland). This sofa epitomises the philosophy of this young design promise, whose motto is to “integrate dynamic curves with extreme functionality”. It looks easy, but you really have to be a visionary. Doreen Westphal - Concrete Vase
The work of Doreen Westphal is critical, poetical, effective and beautiful. Inspired by architecture and science she is committed to make products that help envision another, better future. Each step in the cycle from base material to production process to consumption should be considered to contribute to a world that is fair and lasting.
Born in former East Germany, Doreen Westphal trained initially as a tailor. After the people of East Germany brought down the wall she left the country in order to experience a part of Europe she hadn’t seen before. She settled for a few years in the UK in order to study Theater Design before she moved to Amsterdam in the Netherlands where she freelanced as a theater set and costume designer. In 2002 she established KREJCI by Doreen Westphal with a series of bags and living accessories made from used Amsterdam bicycle inner tubes; the Tubus Collection. Meanwhile this collection has been completed by a number of luxurious and innovative products; but the philosophy to produce not only for the marked, but also for the future is still the same. Doreen is based in Eindhoven and works within the field of conceptual crafts. Recently she presented Concrete Lace Curtain and Concrete and Detailed; a series of tableware and living accessories all made from concrete. Read More…

Nic Roex - blue spade seat
The spade seat by Dutch designer Nic Roex is the contemporary translation of the spade. “Where the spade once stood for arduous work like digging and moving sand, gravel and dirt, it is now used for relaxation. This would seem to be a great contrast, but the solution is more obvious than it might first appear: the spades have the same contour as your bottom. By placing the spade on a frame with this in mind, the spade assumes a new function: a sitting surface. The solution is already there in the existing form of the spade!” Read More…
