Pure Whyte at Interiors 2010

January 13, 2010

Kirsty 29, Studied Decorative Arts at Nottingham Trent University, after graduating with first class honours in 2003 she was then invited for a semester as a guest student at Kalmar University Sweden, studying Glass design. Both these courses really advanced Kirsty’s material and process knowledge and passion for design. After moving to London she then worked for the well known homeware and furniture retailer Habitat, where she gained valuable experience in many areas and is now applying her knowledge for herself; since setting up Purewhyte in autumn 2008.

Having finished an internship at Tom Dixons Design studio and currently freelancing she is now based in her studio in the creative hub of East London.

After recently receiving Best Newcomer to Launchpad 2009 at Pulse, Earls court London, being selected as the UK winner for the Swiss Design Days Geneva design competition and being shortlisted for Homes & Gardens Classic Design Awards – Young Designers Category, Purewhyte has continued to develop a strong collection. Most recently launching three new products during the London Design Festival.

Kirsty’s core principal when designing is: “To create a purely designed product, exploiting its material, which will hopefully become a modern classic. Making it a sustainable product a customer will want to keep and will last for years to come.”
