This year designer Roland Hunt has developed a small collection of furniture pieces, which will be shown at the London Design Festival 2012. These hand-crafted pieces use a mix- ture of found and new materials, often together in a single piece. Hunt utilises the individual strengths of each material to create accessible objects that demonstrate a commitment to truth and simplicity in design.
Included within the collection are a series of custom-made logs. Sourced from a tree surgeon that Hunt has known for many years, the wood is treated, carved, sanded and then preserved with a resin to create either a matt or high gloss finish. The resin emphasizes every grain and burr in the wood and each piece is unique. Other pieces include a fibre glass moulded pendant light, stools formed from recycled paper to create a concrete like texture, a foldable bench made from reclaimed wood and old scout club fittings, and a jes- monite cast dining table.
