Neil’s project has evolved by examining how the internal structures of abandoned buildings begin to change over time. Different floors and levels merge, often collapsing into one another.
An environment that was once stable gives way to the unpredictable: what was once a floor becomes a ceiling, and the building that was once living and secure becomes insecure and precarious.
Neil has chosen to structure these ideas by channelling his design concept in the form of table and drawer combinations. Memory’s foundations, however changeable and upside- down, are the structures.
The table can be a ceiling or a floor but it supports the “drawer”: the capsule within which memories are stored.
