Furniture - Tortie Hoare

Designersblock is please to present to you Tortie Hoare’s new furniture line. Having seen her work at previous Designersblock shows, such as the butterfly chair, key stand and the leather desk, Tortie is back to show more leather pieces from her new collection.

She has researched many ways of creating structural 3D shapes that are environmently counsious and are an alternative to using plastic or resin. Her work celebrates the art of shaping and taming boiled leather, a method once used to make French leather body armors. The way in which she has combined old methods and new ways of thinking to create contemporary furniture, forms a cohesive relationship between the boiled leather and other materials in her designs.
