Description about the project theme from the designer Sachie Sakai

The Spaniards came to Mexican land on search of a vast mine of gold. What they discovered was something far more precious, for instead of gold, they found golden corn, the main element on the table of any Mexican.Parting from the value that corn has in Mexican culture and the “tortillero”, which is a container that conserves and protects corn tortillas, came to be a set of boxes to keep secrets or to hide something valued. Seemingly a decorative object, but by moving parts of the “gure in a certain manner, it will open to reveal its treasure.
