Description by designer

The bat god, deity of the underworld and the night, is a symbol of sacrifice in the Zapotec culture. Being the only mammal that is able to fly in the dark, it was called the butterfly of death. This set of chandeliers represent god Piquete Ziña, and the rituals related to him. Made from black clay, they are burned underground and smoked to achieve their coal-like colour, rising from the underworld to lighten mortals in the darkness.
