Imogen Clarkstone will be exhibiting her current collection of containers that explore form and contained space through the use of traditional sheet metal working techniques, in particular the method of scoring and folding sheet copper to create sharp cornered pentagonal forms.
These vessels draw attention to their contained space. When creating the containers Imogen considers the containers from all angles, each perspective has an element of interest, creating a dialogue between the internal and external.
These objects not only draw attention to their contained space but also interact with their surrounding environment, balancing on one edge, seemingly ready to fall over at any moment.
Imogen just completed her Masters degree in Jewellery, Silversmithing and Related Products at Birmingham School of Jewellery. She previously studied for three years on the (BA) Three Dimensional Design at Manchester School of Art, where she achieved a first class Honours.
Imogen has recently achieved a place on the Starter Studio programme at the Persistence Works in Sheffield, part of the Yorkshire Artspace initiative, where she will start in October 2013.
Imogen will be exhibiting her latest work at the Southbank Centre from 19th-22nd September with Designersblock as part of the London Design festival.
Imogen exhibited her BA work with Designersblock, in April of 2013 at Milan Design week. This work was also featured in Wallpaper* Magazine’s 2012 Graduate directory, as one of a select collection of graduates from around the globe.
