Lazerian Rousseau and Flux at Prometheus event   Designersblock prize at New Designers
Lazerian, Rousseau and Flux at Prometheus event   Designersblock prize at New Designers

We were recently approached to supply the furniture for the latest Secret Cinema pop up restaurant in support of the release of the latest Ridley Scott film Prometheus. Set in a secret London location the restaurant replicated the set of one of this years biggest blockbuster movies, we approached Manchester design studio Lazerian for the lighting and Dutch furniture brand Flux and London based studio Rousseau (pictured) for the seating solution.

Last year at New Designers we presented the first Designersblock prize for outstanding creativity and original thought to Patrick Stevenson Keating for his project the Quantum Parallelograph. We have since shown Patricks work in London and Milan and he has desk space at Designersblock headquarters. We are pleased to announce that this years award went to Andrew Knott for his project Faber.

Bodging Milano 2

Following the huge success of the Bodging Milano project in 2010, in which nine designers went back to basics and made a collection of greenwood chairs in the ash woods of deepest Herefordshire, collaborators Rory Dodd and Chris Eckersley have now returned to the forest. Bodging Milano 2 participants included Clifford Leo Harris, Jon Harrison, Koji and Noriko Katsuragi, Liam Hopkins, Sarah Kay, Simon Maidment, Stefano Santilli, Valentina Gonzalez Wohlers. The results of Bodging Milano 2 will be shown at Designersblock during the London Design Festival.
